still looking for it
If I were to explain what inspiration is, then I'd simply go with the unpopular meaning of it- to breathe in, inhalation. Because only then, it would be easier to understand why I'd say inspiration is something we constantly need. Mhm, just like breathing!
And of course, the most obvious situation that immediately comes into mind is the picture of an artist staring down at his blank white canvas, or an author looking out the window or travelling the globe in search of new ideas for his book. New experiences, new mixture of paint, new designs for the next summer fashion line, a new cheezy pick-up line, eh. But what if that's not the case. Inspiration doesn't necessarily screams "new idea!" We can also be doing the same thing over and over again, and never have enough of it because of inspiration. I'd describe it as a wave of immense calmness that suddenly washes over, rejuvenating, its to breathe in and recenter all scattered thoughts into one and have a fresh outlook on life. all the while doing the same, 'boring' chore.
Ok lets take a look at solat, that routine us Muslims have been doing since who knows how long. One would need a new inspiration everytime before solat to make it count and khusyuk. Who knows what it may be? It could be in the form of a lecture youve listened to on youtube, witnessing someone praying on the grass, or a sudden reminder of how our brothers in Uighur are having a hard time to even practice their faith there.
To be inspired is to get out of your comfort zone and on into the learning zone! Meaning that it's something we have to look for ourselves, and it definitely won't be easy. Alright, between a student, giving his all in classes, and a traveller, trotting across the globe ideas, the one thing they both have in common whilst looking for inspiration is their beautiful akhlak that will eventually open doors unimaginable! Its in the simple things like never afraid to ask for directions, strengthening bonds with teachers to get he most out of what he learns, doing as the romans would when he's in rome, and evading themselves from distractions.
Another thing about inspiration is that it expires
the shelf life? Hm, pretty short. It needs to be constantly replenished, remember? The second its gone, and you've still yet to take advantage of the feeling, you're out! Its time to set course for another sighting of 'inspiration'. Regardless how hard the next route you're taking next, hang tight. remember that as long as you've faith in God, He'll never abandon you. InshaAllah He'll take you there again eventually.
Coming back to when I said inspiration could be in any form as long as it sparks you, well sure everyone is marvelled by a plethora of different things. Preferences are what makes us all unique as how we average human beings go. However, although this might seem biased, there is actually one thing that brings us all together. That one inspiration that deserves a spot in each and everyone of us. An inspiration to really get to know God. To know Allah. The beautiful and at the same time scary thing about it, is that it reaches everyone in the whole world but once you miss it, you're done for. Boom. Even babies who are born with ears blessed with the adhaan are not safe from missing this inspiration. He's the Most Just afterall.
Well that's all my inspiration had it for me (hahahhaah abrupt ending indeed) Couldn't manage to make a clean finish as it expired a few seconds ago. But Alhamdulillah tho! One of my raw-est pieces yet. And i made sure to run up the stairs from the kitchen to lay it all down too - but alas!
May Allah continue to inspire us to do good for ourselves and for the world
And may He ease our journey to knowing Him and our very soul to the end of time,
Aamiin!
ps// yeap, definitely need more reading done. bye!
