Someone else to look up to!
Write a post in 15 minutes, can I pull it off? We'll see!
Assalamualaikum, hi!
Believe it or not, I'm currently in the middle of my finals and tomorrow's physics and I haven't finished studying, but AH , whats new? So, the main reason I'm drawing out some time for this is because I promised myself yesterday, and also because I want this to be engraved somewhere else besides my short-term memory capsule, because (!!!) the things I heard yesterday and from who it was coming from, are two things I want to never forget in my career pursuit. Yes, a Houris can be in a pursuit. Its only logical, despite how slow I seem. I berangan faster, is all.
Along with Ayuni & Afina, we attended a forum on Racism & Islamophobia which showcased a prestigious panel of cendekiawans like Prof Madya Dr Hafidzi, Dato Dr Muhammad Ali, both educators in UPM itself and not to forget, Malaysia's promising novelist, En Hilal Asyraf.
Among them three, Dr Hafidzi struck me most from the second he spoke. Maybe it was the way he remarkably picked up dates of when such and such world events happened, or how he smoothly slides in a verse from the Qur'an and skillfully reaped the backstory of that as well. Back then when he was talking, I never knew he was an avid, buzzing zoologist, until he mentioned the Malayan Tiger out of nowhere, how us khalifahs are the cause behind them predicted to be extinct in a decade.
You see, I'd love to talk about all that he's shared but that's not really why I'm here in the first place. Maybe, InshaAllah I'll leave that to later. I'm here to prove to myself and everyone else that there is such thing as having two pursuits simultaneously. One for the akhirah, and the other, for the dunya. Of course, kita lebihkan the ukhrawi part, maybe that's the reason why I thought Dr Hafidzi was an ulama with a major in history, but no- instead, he had a degree, masters and phd, all three in zoology!
SubhanaAllah :')
How beautiful are the affairs of a true believer.
Dear Houris, you are not to listen to those who say you won't be able to achieve the best of both worlds. Just because, you left madrasah for foundation studies, that does not mean you're belittling your deen, it does not make your father "not strict enough" with his daughter. It does not mean you won't have time to hafal the Qur'an, nor does it become an obstacle for you to read up on the history of the world.
Its just that you were given a chance to take on a different path.
And who else was the one who bestowed it upon you, if not Allah swt?
You just do you, alright?
ps// took me an hour and a half hahaha will edit later inshaAllah
