How He Rolls

I can't believe he did that effortlessly.

Nope, I'm not talking about the pakcik who skillfully siang-ed the fishes as if the knife he used was waltzing with the dead fish (?) but rather I'm talking abt my dad who selamba je left Ali and I unsupervised at a pasar! And this pasar wasn't the Pasar Siti Khadijah type as it had walls tainted with weird vandalisms for instance ; "Melayu tuut tuut". Its censored mostly because i couldn't recall what was there but hey, it was arguably offensive and triggering. And immediately, i had a bad premonition abt the whole place. A lubuk for drunkards and well obviously haters. heh. If Ali wasn't there, of course I'd end up crying and would've made my way back to the car in tears (which had no idea where!) Yea, I just happened to have the worst sense of direction in the fam.

I turned to look at my brother's face, expecting the same look of horror I had, only to find one with squinted eyes and an exasperated expression, as if everything was my fault! (because i detached myself to play with the kucing pasar) And he was only watching over me dutifully.

"Bukan salah akak!",I sputtered, trying shamelessly to block an incoming attack whilst following his sudden brisk walk.

"Babak cakap nak pergi beli santan eh tadi?", he replied, ignoring what i said earlier.

Nevertheless, I learned two valuable lessons today;

Firstly, Babak no longer sees me as a kid
The way he no longer calls out for me before moving on to the next stall he's heading to, indicates just that. So woman up and just head for the car next time this happens Or  maybe..its because he was far too lazy to blow up at us ?

Yeap. the second option, indefinitely.

Second, irrespective of how rocky our relationships are with our parents, never let it slide to the point when they abandon you first.
Heh, no! I never said a thing about conceding the act of leaving your parents to the Old Folk's Home before they do to you (whaa?). I'm talking about the 'cutting ties' kind of abandon, the heartfelt one. When they refuse to shower you with love anymore. Alah, like those cliche "Mak tak nak ampunkan dia" scenes in those 'stabbing' Malay dramas with all those anak derhaka *pictures Iqram Dinzly* And maybe being left at the pasar gave off the same emotions a disowned child would have. It hurts!

After a couple of junctions and naik-turun tangga, we finally found him who greeted us with a sardonic grin. Ha-ha, very funny, Babak. Apa lagi? Sekali jumpa tu, jangan harap la to see me leaving pops' side ever again. Eh wait a minute, mana Ali?

"Wah, ada kedai jersey kat situ!", he exclaimed, whilst heading towards the stall. My gaze followed him in disbelief. You just never learn, huh?

And well to wrap this up nicely, I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one with the dad who gives off subtle hints of disapproval towards almost everything I do. ie: using a device with earphones on, bringing homework along time balik kampung, staying up late with unfinished business, and even mistaking your anime affinity with something much worse - kpop (sorry!)

To babak; Its not that I intend to forever hide this blog from you or whatnot, maybe I'm just waiting for that time when I'd be okay with you laughing at my posts (straight up at my face like you always do) without my face turning beet red as the referred post was like decades ago (lol). Besides, I'm pretty sure you'd see this soon enough with mom as your aide. *sighs* (kan, mummy? :P)

Well know this readers, never ever doubt your parent's love for you despite the abrupt parenting changes they might show you every now and then because, they're also humans. And to err is human after all. Oh, and note that everyone is learning from each other. This especially applies to the eldest child. The exchange between parents and the eldest is the usually the most reciprocal as both sides jot down their 'firsts' about each other.

Am I making sense? Hope so.
Till then!
